The scrolling elements are stylized acanthus (foliage), a very popular decorative motif used by cabinetmakers and glazers in England in the late 18th Century and copied by French furniture makers in the late 19th century.

The large size will probably weed out some mirror buyers who don't have tall enough ceilings for this impressive mirror but if offered at auction, this would almost certainly sell for at least $1,000 and more likely in the $1,500-2,500 range. It's worth noting that retailers would likely price this at $4,000 and up.

If you're looking to insure this, I would strongly suggest coverage at $6,000.
