Japan made by Noritake. Pattern Juliet. No cracks or chips. and in excellent condition
74 piece
Hi Colleen,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Noritake was one of the most popular names for dinnerware in the mid 20th Century; not only was it handsome and serviceable but it was also comparatively affordable. Increasingly few people today, however, entertain in such a formal way and the market is saturated with services of varying sizes, colors, etc. Because there is less demand than supply, fair-market / auction prices for Noritake remain low, typically bringing $4-8 PER PIECE.
While you have a relatively small service , the fact that yours appears to be largely complete benefits its value, which I've appraised at about $6-10/piece
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage 76-piece Noritake parcel gilt part dinner service for 9
In the "Juliet" pattern, made in Japan, bearing the Nippon Toki "N" Mark in use from 1962, comprising:
9 dinner plates + 1 spare
9 salad plates
9 bread plates + 1 spare
9 soup bowls
9 desert bowls + 1 spare
9 cups and 9 saucers
1 teapot
1 cream pitcher
1 covered sugar bowl
2 serving platters of which 1 is large
2 serving dishes with handles and lids
2 serving bowls
1 gravy boat with attached plate
CONDITION: This service appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: Purchased in Rhodesia in 1967
$450-750 for the set*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.

Good Day Delia,
The dinner service is comprised of ;-
9 cups and 9 saucers
Tea pot, jug and sugar bowl with lid
9 dinner plates + 1 spare
9 bread plates + 1 spare
9 salad plates
9 soup bowls
9 desert bowls + 1 spare
2 serving platters of which 1 is large
2 serving dishes with handles and lids
2 serving bowls
1 gravy boat with attached plate
This actually is then 76 pieces or 73 without the spare plates. I miscalculated earlier.
Hope this clarifies the number of items in the dinner service.
Thank you
