Antique Chinese Embroidered Pink Silk Kimono obtained in Shanghai, China by my Grandmother who lived there in the early 1920's. I am not sure of the age of this piece. 28 inches in length from collar to hem. 33 1/2 inches wide from sleeve edge to sleeve edge.. 14 1/2 inches at waist and 20 inches wide at hem. Unlined.
Nothing in writing - it was handed down to me from my father who inherited it from his mother. My sister could verify if needed.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful Silk kimono. Such antique kimonos are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The design and colour of the lovely rose/pink silk is beautiful. It appears to be in very good condition which is essential when selling items like this. The last couple of years these types of early 20th century silk kimonos have been very popular amongst fashionistas and tend to be bought by them instead of by collectors of Chinese works of art. The design and fabric is very typical of the first part of the 20th century.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online Oriental art auction, where I believe the Kimono has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful silk kimono. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
