Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique brass bound rosewood lap desk
Continental, early 19th Century
Of rectangular section, the back surmounted by a domed-lid box with divided interior and red-velvet(?) lined lid that sits into the lower section with a long pin, the lower section with two red-leather lined recessed wells and an elongated oval pen well, over a pull-out gilt embossed black leather-topped document box with hinged surface, all on disc feet.
14 inches tall, 10 inches wide, 11 inches deep
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition with some scuffs and other signs of use commensurate with age.
PROVENANCE: acquired at auction
