This is a 19'10" x 13' antique silk area rug in great condition, purchased from a gallery/dealer (NolaRugs.com) in the Summer of 2022 for $19,000.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a beautiful rug and I'm not at all surprised that you paid $19,000 for it, in a retail setting, in 2022. It's worth noting that the values Mearto provides are fair-market (similar to wholesale), for auction purposes, and quite a bit lower than retail prices - this would likely sell at auction for between $8,000 and $10,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique style machine loomed silk rug
circa 2022
Subtly woven in light blue and gray silk, with an overall lushly populated stylized floral pattern, with trimmed selvedges.
13 feet by 19 feet 10 inches
CONDITION: This rug appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Acquired from a New Orleans rug dealer in 2022
$8,000-10,000*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Apologies for the typo, Scott; I've fixed that now. Also., there's no change in value for this having been made in 2022.
Thanks again for using Mearto,
Delia
Hi -- What is the process to get the appraiser to sign a Form 8283 for us (IRS Form for donations)?
Hi Scott,
I've alerted my supervisor to this.
Thanks,
Delia
Hi -- I have two items to add here. First, the appraisal seems to have a type. It is appraised at $8000 - $1000 in the headline, but the text says $8000 - $10,000. Please correct that typo. Second, I just received information back from NolaRugs about the providence and age of the rug; it is a new (2022) hand-woven Afghan rug. If this adjusts the appraisal, please help with that.
