It’s made of wood. Maybe oak. Good condition. All drawers and shelves are functional. Top drawer has velvet and is divided into 3. Beautiful carved flowers and metal key like handles. Maker unknown. Given to me by a family friend. It was his mother’s who died at almost 100. She collected nice things

Hi Christina,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a later reproduction of a form that was very popular throughout France but also other parts of Europe in the late 18th and early 19th Century; I can tell from the construction detailing on this that it is not nearly that old - second half of the 20th Century (1950s on) at best.
That said, these still attract interest from collectors because they are both useful and decorative; most sell at auction for around $500.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage French provincial style walnut armoire
20th Century
With arched cornice over two arched- and relief-carved paneled doors opening to a divided interior with shelves, cubby holes and sliding drawers, all on short carved feet. Presumably unsigned.
Height: 96 inches; width: 40-1/2 inches; depth: 18 inches
CONDITION: This armoire appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited from a friend's mother
$400-600*
