This is a circular box similar to one I found online that is listed as from Kangxi. The colors are blue (decorations) on a background that is a very pale bluish brown. The scene on the top is a winged dragon. That design is surrounded by a design depicting a vine with some flowers that appear to have an eye in the middle. The same vine design is on the bottom. Surrounding the base is a stylized leaf pattern. There are 6 characters in the center of the base as a marking. The inside is all glazed with the same pale bluish brown as the background. The diameter is about 7.5 inches, and the height is 5 inches. There is a slight flaw on the top near the opening that appears to be part of the original firming since it does not carry through to the inside of the box.
7.5 inch diameter, 5 inch height.
This is a piece inherited from my mother. She and my father lived in Malaysia as expats in the 1980’s. She was a collector of antiques, and would buy pieces in Malaysia and Hong Kong during the 5 years she lived there. This is one of the pieces she acquired, we are not sure exactly where.
Hello Mary,
I’m glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal request,
Considering the photographs, this is a beautiful 17th century Kangxi Shaped Bowl with a Blue and White glaze. Just like it's contemporaries this piece shows a characteristic "Ogee" shape heavily used in Kangxi period.
Very collectable.
Condition: Pretty good condition considering the age.
Entirely hand made.
600-1000$
