Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a large Chinese multi-generational ancestor scroll, ink and color on paper laid down on fabric, inscribed 任如祭, dated six year of the Tongzhi Reign (1861-1875). The emperor was a young child when he or his advisers for him assumed the reign title of Tongzhi (“Union Order”). He ruled under the strong influence of his mother, the empress dowager Cixi (1835–1908) and those years were troubled times in Chinese history. The scroll painting in your possession is by an unknown provincial artist and very much follows the formula of ancestor paintings.
The estimate is based on similar paintings actually sold at auction. Asking prices in the trade can be higher and can vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
