11cm high, 11.5cm wide
Bought in Hong Kong in early 1980s from a trusted textile wholesaler with whom we did regular business. On his trips into China he would occasionally return with unusual items such as this purse, embroidered wind hats, etc. We bought, for private pleasure, anything that particularly appealed to us.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an early 20th century chinese lady purse, embroidered with children playing, family life, a qilin and the lucky god shou-xing in a chinese folk art manner, the bright yellow silk has faded a little from age, but the overall condition is very good. The estimate is based on similar items offered or sold at auction. As always "asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
