Copper Stamped “FMK"
21’ x 18"
Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I initially thought this was a piece of wall art by Curtis Jere, a Los-Angeles-based American company named for founders Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, who were active mostly from the 1960s to 1980s and featured Brutalist decor that bridged the gap between fine art and high-end decorative design.
I've looked into the "FMK" mark and looks like it is most commonly attributed to Florence Metalcraft of California - Korea, a major designer of decorative metal wall art who overlapped with Curtis Jere and other metal wall art makers. At auction, FMK's works don't bring quite as much as those by Jere, typically in the $300-500 range while comparably sized ones by Jere bringing considerably more: about 1,500-2,500.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Three vintage decorative copper wall trees
attributed to Florence Metalcraft Korea (FMK), circa 1960s-70s
stamped 'FMK'
The smallest: 18 inches high by 21 inches wide
The middle: 28 inches high by 24 inches wide
The largest: 37 inches high by 32 inches wide
CONDITION: Leaves with some oxidation
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$1,200-1,800 for the group*
