Please see above for some more description. This especially, spectacular, head, was released from enveloping rock, recently. ( I dropped it on the patio. Oops.) I, with my now practiced eye, can identify a short beak, extreme dome, maxillary teeth, and typical, rugged, occipital bones. ( 'Now practiced eye', because I now have many smaller versions of the same thing; plus one that is the same size with which to compare. The big ones have sensitized me to the shape, which now is so obvious when all are lined up. The mandible is absent, so it rests on its maxillary teeth. Another, very similar head, has a surviving round "cheek', so I compare these two. On the specimen in question, I can tell where the 'cheeks' are sheared off. The head is made solid, heavy rock. This is why I've been told, it 'absolutely cannot be a true fossil.' At least a half dozen Paleontologists, or Geologists, have declared this to be so. Not one has offered to look at these in 'the flesh, so since that is their final verdict... Research tells me that the heads were permineralized, or petrified, exactly like petrified redwood, which is in abundance here.
