black lacquer box, silk lined with complete set of ink sticks
unkown
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a set of chinese pressed ink, depicting Huang Shan mountains, dating to the 19th century. The chinese lacquer cover is decorated with a chinese dragon among clouds. Similar sets 清光绪 黄山图 or 胡开文 黄山图 have been offered or sold at auction. 胡开文 used a similar inside rim decoration of the box. Both manufacturers were related and produced similar sets. I am not aware of current reproductions, but a hands on appraisal would be necessary anyway. Auction results in China appear to be higher, but confirmation of the deal is sometimes difficult.
