Hi Jobie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Wallace Silversmiths, originally R. Wallace & Sons, is one of America’s oldest and most respected silverware manufacturers.Founded in 1835 in Connecticut by Robert Wallace, who initially crafted spoons from German (nickel) silver in a small gristmill on the Quinnipiac River.
Early partnership and name changes included Wallace & Co., Wallace Simpson & Co., and in 1871, R. Wallace & Sons Manufacturing Co. In 1875, the Wallace Brothers Silver Company was established, eventually merging back into the main firm in 1879.
Wallace Silversmiths introduced the Stradivari pattern in 1975. It is a sterling silver flatware pattern known for its graceful, flowing lines and elegant simplicity—named after the famed Stradivari violin makers, to evoke a sense of classical artistry and craftsmanship.
When other Stradivari sterling silver flatware sets come to auction, they usually average $15-$20 per piece.
