smaller work by Stuart of George Washington after the painter but very old and artist unknown. Wood frame very old along with the wire backing and panel it is on. It is about 113/4x13 2/4 with 2' wood frame.
Found in the attic of the summer cottage of the Hyatts who also were of New York and Michigan and of great wealth.
This is a vintage 20th century framed print reproduction of the portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart which was originally done in late 18th century. Borghese was the name of a printer/publisher from Italy who re-created images of famous works. Most were sold as souvenirs from Italy and were used as decorative wall art. This picture has surface condition issues, which appear to be mold and cannot be reversed. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
