Grandparents mantel clock. Square, black ornate, wood. Roman columns ( 2 green, 1 gold each side of faceplate), marble (faux) inserts, golden feet, punched detail each corner of faceplate. Golden feet and tassels in each side. Has faded torn label with (American Mad…. Showing) on back. Good condition, had it oiled and inspected by jeweler in 2005. Works well chimes every quarter hour and strikes the hours. Have the key. Pictures look like possible Sessions. Belonged to my mom’s parents she was born in 1939. They lived in California.

I believe you are correct about this clock being made by the Sessions Clock Company, which was one of the major American clock manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It began in 1856 when Chauncey Jerome, a pioneer of mass-produced brass clock movements, reorganized his failing company. The factory was purchased and eventually operated by the Sessions family, becoming the Sessions Clock Company in Forestville, Connecticut (later part of Bristol). The company was especially active from about 1880 to the 1930s, producing millions of clocks. Many early examples have pressed or stamped metal movements, which allowed very inexpensive production.
Sessions' clocks were less costly to make than ones by Seth Thomas or Eli Terry, and were more affordable to middle class buyers as well.
When Sessions mantel clocks come to auction these days, they usually sell for between $75-125.

The punched tin case with faux marble elements and parcel gilt capitals centering a cast brass dial with Arabic chapter rings and gilt metal feet. Retains a partial label.

CONDITION: This clock is in good condition with minor wear commensurate to age and use; it has been recently serviced and is reported to be in working condition.
