Porcelain and is 6” on all four sides...
Just purchased this not to long ago at a thrift store... not sure if it is even Chinese? And the lid throws me off... appreciate your insight... thank you and have a great day!
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a chinese slip cast pottery "op art" style trinket jar, apparently of a series of varying sizes, this being the "big" version. The chinese character "Da" simply means " large / great / big etc.". There is a firing flaw which was covered with green glaze, the foot rim is rather rough, the modern steel lid has a hole, which would indicate that the jar was not intended to be used as a tea caddy. I assume this is a mass produced piece of recent production, possibly available in different sizes and different colour glazes. The estimate is based on similar items offered or sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
