We have recently acquired a wonderful original water-color on paper painting we believe is from around the early 1900's by the artist Xu Beihong - or someone from the same school. It was framed in Baltimore at Bendann's Fine Art Gallery and we believe though some of the backing paper has separated there is enough still connected to see that this has not been removed from the framing. There is a number on the back with the framing label that would also most likely provide more information and provenance. We belive it was owned by and sold the Bendann Art gallery at one point in time. The paper and matting is in exceptional condition and the painting itself expertly done. Due to the preservation we believe it was also kept out of the direct sunlight and well cared for. The painting is well-centered to included the image off set with the inscription and seals - the well-proportioned image commands the page. The center not including matting measures approx. 25" x 19". Whole frame measures approx. 34" x 25".

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a late 20th century copy after a china ink painting by 徐悲鸿 Xu Beihong depicting a galopping horse. The red seal stamp shows the name 樂 Yue or Le and ??. Unfortunately I couldn´t find an artist with this name and working in this style listed in auction results. The estimate is based on similar decorative paintings by lesser known artists sold or offered at auction.
