An oil on board painting. There is no signature or mark on the front that I can see. On the back of the frame the name 'Jean-Honore Fragonard' is written in pencil.
I am un aware of its history as it came as part of a lock up clearance from the basement of a property in Kensington, London some time ago. All we were told is the tenant had moved out years earlier but never cleared there storage area. There are no areas of damage as such although there is an aged liked 'cracking' all over the picture.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a chinese painting on board, copied or inspired by Fragonard or one of his followers. Similar paintings flooded the "antiques" market in the 1990s, being manufactured in China, most likely in the painting village Dafen. The back is stained brown to make it look old,
The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction.
