Frame measures 24 inches x 22 inches x 4 inches deep. Painting is inside frame...roughly 18 inches x 16 inches. According to my Mom...only 4 of these originals were ever done...I own 2, the third is with the other side of the family and the 4th hung in the Detroit Institute of Art many years ago. I do not have an artist name...I do have pictures and on the back of the frame the date Nov. 10, 1942 is stamped on the back along with a series of numbers written in pencil. To my knowledge, these paintings have been in the family since the late 40's or early 50's.
Passed down from my grandmother and mother.
Thank you for submitting your items for appraisal. This appears to be a pair of bird paintings by a well trained wildlife artist. One painting depicts long-billed dowitcher, the other a pair of quail. The paintings were made in the tradition of british 19th century art but on modern artist board, they are therefore copies of the 20th century, possibly of the 1940s. The name of the artist is unknown. The estimate is based on similar painting pairs by lesser known artists sold a auction. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item
