Lantern that hold oil for lighting.
Found by my husband
Good morning, Erma,
Thanks for giving me dimensions!
I think this is lacking some kind of cover or shade - like a hurricane shade - that would have protected the flame and wick once it was lit. It was made in China (as denoted by the mark 'CHINA') on the bottom but that mark was used beginning in the 20th century and I can not find any comparable examples to have come up for auction, either recently or going farther back.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, you have a:
An Art Nouveau style bronze pillar-form oil lamp
Made in China, early 20th Century
with copper reservoir
20 inches tall, base 6 inches diameter
PROVENANCE: found by husband
CONDITION: may be lacking a shade or cover
$50-75 (represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary).
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
The height is approximately 20 inches tall, base is about 6 inches. There is a wicked and that top tip screws off to insert the oil. It is very heavy and weigh about 8-10 pounds without fluid.
