Foot binding dates back to the Song dynasty and was common in some parts of China well into the 20th century. Such shoes were a common sight not long ago on antique fairs. The shoes in your possession are delicately constructed of silk and cotton and hand embroidered. The estimate is based on similar sold or offered at auction.
