I received these hollow marble blocks from my mother who has had them for over 30 years but does not remember where she got them or for how much. I would like to sell them. There is a cube and a rectangular prism. They are in good condition, could use some cleaning but no damage that I can see.
Dimensions for the cube (shorter one) 14”h*14”d*14”l. Dimensions for the rectangular prism 25.75”h*10”d*10”l.
Hi Jasmine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Marble pedestal/plinths such as these can range in value tremendously based on the type of marble used. These plinths appear to be made - not from marble sourced from an antique marble quarry - but made of pulverized marble dust that has then been poured into casts; in short, they are reconstituted marble, if you will.
Despite not being old, these still have value - a fair-market value of about $700-1,000 for the two together.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Two hollow modern composite marble plinth pedestals,
20th Century
One rectangular, the other a cube, hollow and unsigned
Cube: 14 inches by 14 inches by 14 inches
Rectangle: 25 3/4 inches by 10 inches by 10 inches
CONDITION: These appear to be in generally good condition with some minor pitting and wear commensurate to age and use
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$700-1,000 for the two together*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
