24.5"X 30" reframed and relined impressionist oil can not determine the artist from the monogram
Maryland estate auction last month. I’m very interested in the name of the artist.
Dear Ian,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Sadly the research for the monogram takes some time. I ask you for some patience.
With kind regards,
Georg
Thanks Georg for your insight and value estimate. I know you put a great deal of time into the research and it’s appreciated. Thanks again, Ian

Dear Ian,
Thank you for your request. Sadly regarding technical problems, your request was not displayed in the interface. I apologize for the delay. The presented object is a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 30" x 24.5. The painting depicts a landscape with a forest and a river in the middle. The painting is made in an impressionist style how it was common in the early 20th century. The painting is monogrammed with the letters "MN". I checked all reference books and databases to solve this monogram but found no fitting artist. Also, the idea that these letters are Cyrillic letters is not adaptable to the Cyrillic alphabet. Sadly the artist remains unidentified. Nevertheless, the artist was an academical educated artist who worked in the early 20th century. The dissolving and laminar style of the painting especially in the area of the threes reminds me of German paintings between 1900 and 1920.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
