Oil painting 36” H x 24” W including frame. The back has paper so i cannot tell the size of the canvas. Separate pic of signature. Dated 1936. Belonged to mr Grandmother. Possible origin California but do not know, that is just a guess.
Grandmother’s friend gifted it to her, then grandmother to mother, then mother to me. We are from NJ.
This is a vintage early 2nd quarter 20th century original oil on canvas painting depicting a cypress grove lining a dirt road that leads to a wide open dry terrain. This is presumably a landscape scene in California, however there is not a title or location notated. The painting is dated 3.1936, likely for March of that year. The work is signed E.F. Laucks. Various spelling permutations were searched, however there is not a match to listed artist and the work does have a hobbyist slant to it. It does show an attempt to portray light in the manner of works by Maxfield Parrish. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
