Hi Richard,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The jewel tones of this rug suggest it's a Hamadan rug, woven in and around the Hamadan region, include a wide variety of village styles. While rugs of any size can be quite costly when purchased from a rug seller, either in a brick-and-mortar shop or in a bazaar booth, when they come to auction, they do not bring quite the same monies - in the case of this rug, an auctioneer would probably put an estimate of $500-700 on this rug.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Persian Hamadan hand-knotted wool area rug
mid-late 20th Century
In deep jewel tones of dark red, navy blues, cream and browns, centering a large geometric medallion; with cream selvedges.
40-1/2 x 58-1/4 inches
CONDITION: Last cleaned in 2019; appears to be in good condition; value assumes no tears, stains, odors or repairs.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$500-700*
