What does this mean?

This is a vintage, later 20th century, 1975, signed color etched print on mulberry paper of the print entitled Elijah and the Chariot by the Spanish surrealist artist, Salvador Dali (1904 - 1989). It is notated E.A. which is for the French term épreuve d'artiste and is the equivalent of an Artist's Proof. An Artist's Proof is the precursor to the limited edition numbered print run and is done to look for any changes or modifications needed to be done to the print before publishing the numbered run. Elijah and the Chariot is from Dali's series, Our Historical Heritage, which featured 11 etchings focusing on events and characters from the Old Testament. This is a visual interpretation from when Elijah ascended to heaven on a chariot of fire. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
