Jasper Cropsey oil painting. Item is 20" x 13"
Purchased at a local flee market in my neighborhood.
This is a vintage, later 20th century, about 1970s, framed color printed reproduction of a 19th century landscape painting entitled Serenity by Jasper Cropsey (1823-1900) with texturized surface made to appear like an original painting. It is in a hand carved wood frame from Mexico which was a popular framing type used in the 1960s - 1980s. It was common throughout the 20th century for publishers to print images of paintings and sell them as decorative wall art through decorator, furniture and framing shops. This is not an original oil painting nor was it from the time when Cropsey was living. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
The images are from my phone camera and are of poor quality. The painting surface is coated with a laquer type finish.
The painting signature is hard to see due to the shinny lacquered surface.
What is the size of this? Please add clear, in-focus, close-up images of the surface to show the texture and a close-up of the signature. Also, a photo of the backside (do not remove from frame).
