Hi Thomas,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Scandinavia Woodworks Co. PTE was a Singapore-registered company, originally known as Scandinavia Woodworks Company, that was later renamed Scandinavia Warehouses PTE LTD. They made midcentury modern furniture - particularly teak dining and side chairs in the 1960s -but didn’t necessarily employ or credit specific designers whose names entered design history the way the major Danish figures did.
Many collectors of Scandinavian furniture look for those that were made in Denmark or other Scandinavian countries. Whereas most Danish-made Midcentury Modern sets of teakwood chairs would typically sell for a few hundred dollars a chair, those by Scandinavia Woodworks Co rarely exceed $100/chair, making this set worth between $500-700 at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A set of six vintage Scandinavia Woodworks Co teakwood chairs
made in Singapore, circa 1960s
comprising: two armchairs and four side chairs, with gray wool upholstery
Overall height: 34 inches; seat height: 17 inches; seat width: 19 inches; depth: 19 inches
CONDITION: This seat appears to be in good age-appropriate condition with only very minor losses.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$500-700*
