I have two Shekwan Mudman figurines. They are in good shape. They are likely from the 1890 - 1919 era based on their bottom marking. They are a bit over 12" in height. One is holding a bottle and the other a basket.
They were my grandmother's figurines. She received them as gifts in the late 1930's.
Dear R Jefferies,
You have indeed two Chinese Mudmen figures glazed in Sancai color scheme. Its always hard to tell the age of the statues in some cases; they are made in the same manner for longer time. There are however small things to determine age and one of that is the color yellow. Yours is nicely soft and pastel. The later versions have a harder type of yellow color. Also the attention to the expression in the vase is good sign. I believe your statues are made early 20th century. They are quite large and that adds to the value. Chinese antiques are sought after in the market and I'm sure if you would bring it to auction they will fetch around the estimate I gave.
I will forward your request to the staff and they will take over from me.
It would be nice to hear the outcome later if you want :)
Regards,
Simon Breider
Hello!
Thank you very much for your appraisal purchase. When you submitted your item to us, you selected "yes," when asked if it was for sale and "public" when asked if you'd like others to be able to see it, so it is visible both on our website and in our consignment marketplace, which is accessed by a number of auction houses actively seeking new items to sell. If there is any interest, they will reach out to you directly.
If there's anything else that we can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask!
Best regards,

Thank you for your insight. Do you know if others can see these on this website, including your comments. I would be interested in auctioning these at some point.
