Smallish rug all wool with knots and fringe on one end but loose fringe on other. Kalim weave with spaces where colors do not overlap. There is an obvious small hole in the dark brown of one edge- insects- and another in body of weaving. Otherwise this is in good shape, good strong color.

Hello,
Your item is a handwoven wool rug featuring a geometric pattern in orange, brown, black, and cream tones. The weaving technique appears to be Kilim, characterized by its flat-weave and non-overlapping color spaces. The rug has fringed edges, though one side has loose fringe while the other has more structured knots. The presence of small holes along the dark brown edge and some insect damage suggests age-related wear but does not significantly diminish its aesthetic appeal.
Kilim rugs are traditionally woven in Anatolia, Persia, the Caucasus, and parts of Central Asia, often featuring bold geometric motifs that hold symbolic meanings. This rug’s diamond and stepped motifs are reminiscent of Anatolian or Caucasian designs from the mid-to-late 20th century. Its natural wool dyes have aged well, retaining their strength and contrast.
