Small wool weaving, mostly black with grey in center and red at corners. On one side the white warp? shows. There is a small hole in the grey center. Color is good and corners intact, I bought this at the Hubbell Trading Post in Arizona in 1970.

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Navajo Germantown weaving refers to a distinct style of Navajo textiles created in the late 19th century when Navajo weavers began using commercially produced, vibrantly colored Germantown yarns. These weavings are prized for their intricate designs, bold color palettes, and fine craftsmanship.
At just 12 by 18 inches this weaving could have had many purposes: a sampler or trial piece (many weavers created smaller pieces to test new patterns, color combinations, or techniques before committing to a larger rug); wall hanging or decorative piece (those that were not put on a wall were designed as table mats or altar cloths in a decorative or ceremonial setting); a miniature or child's size saddle blanket.
Ones of this size usually don't sell for much - $100-150 at auction - though ones with brighter colors or more complex designs usually sell for more.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
