Ink and color on silk. Painting Dimensions: 19 inches high by 9 inches wide Frame Dimensions: 28 inches high by 16 inches wide On the painting: 女几山頭春雪消 - The snowcap on Nuji Mountain is melting 路旁仙杏發柔條 - The apricot trees are starting to grow their branches 心期此日同游賞 - I've always wanted to visit here around this time 載酒攜琴過野橋 - Crossing the bridge in the wilderness with my qin and wine 唐寅 - Tang Yin
I recently purchased the work in Honolulu, Hawaii. -One mark (六如居士) indicates Liuru Jushi, one of the haos of Tang Yin -Two collectors' marks (袁) from Yuan family. -The final collector's mark appears to include a (齊) Qi - ostensibly part of the collector's name
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be copy of Tang Yin´s Painting ( 122 x 65 cm) in the Shanghai Museum or a reproduction print of such a copy. The inscription 吳郡呈秀齋珍藏 refers to a collection, the artist seal is by someone with the name Qi 豈. Thank you for the additional photos, unfortunately the high resolution details show dots as if giclee printed, not the structure of paper with pigments. I would have to give up here and refer to a hands on inspection in your local museum. It is not a work by Tang Yin, the style is very much different. The estimate is for a good 19th /20th century copy .
Hi Dylan, I assume the white border around the "painting" and around the inscription is not a fine paper border but simply the edge of the print. Sorry
The white border around the painting appears to be a fine paper border. I can see where it meets at the edges. The inscriptions appear to be pasted onto paper.
Checking back on this, Klaus.
Sending a note to follow-up and see if I can give you any more information to help with the appraisal.
Thanks, Klaus. I uploaded some additional photos that, I hope, are in better focus.
