In good condition. Who made it is unknown. Inherited it from my dad who acquired it somewhere in Michigan sometime between 1998-2008. It is made of a metal that appears to be a bronze-like material with surface varying from a smooth, dark brown, shiny metal to a dull are that has some greenish patina from age. The lamp appears to have glass in the shade.
Approximately 25.5" tall, 16.5" wide, 19" deep (widest parts of shade). Base is 10" x 10".
Hi Chris,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is the Flying Lady pattern lamp made by Meyda Tiffany, which is an American lighting company best known for producing Tiffany-style stained glass lamps and lighting fixtures. The business was founded in 1974 in Upstate New York (Yorkville / Utica area) by Meyer (Meyda) Cohen and his wife Ida — the name Meyda is a blend of their first names.
The “Flying Lady” features a winged female figure holding or supporting a stained-glass shade. She is strongly inspired by Louis Comfort Tiffany’s Art Nouveau motifs — graceful female forms, nature, and movement — and also echoes hood ornament imagery from early automobiles (especially the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy–type elegance).
When other Meyda Tiffany Flying Lady lamps have come to auction, since 2010 historically sold between $400 and $1400, Most recently, comparably sized models have realized between $600 and $800.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
