15" x 18". Signed bottom right L Barra. I don't know what more I can say about it. There are no holes, tears, or paint loss. The canvas is nailed to the stretcher on all four sides. It may need cleaned, but I am not expert enough to know that for sure.
Purchased at an estate auction. Presumably, the former traveled the world and bought antiques and art from every where.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an oil on canvas painting, the stretcher apparently bought in France, the artist material supplier possibly P.Sandts (?), oil on canvas, depicting a woman looking out of a window at flowers in a garden, main focus of the artist was the neck, hair and complexion of the young woman. Typical for artists of the late 19th century was the usage of photographs to work from. Which is a typical characteristic of Laureano BARRAU BUÑOL (1864-1957) who is known for his beach scenes, depiction of young woman and religious scenes. The painting in your possession is signed L.BARRAU in capital letters lower right. The estimate is based on comparable paintings sold at auction. I would advise you to have the yellowed varnish removed by and expert restorer ( Have someone recommend by your local museum). Lovely painting as it is, but you would gain a lot by having it cleaned.
These are the best pictures I can get. It looks like there is 17 Hue (maybe) and I can't make out anything else.
