This is an unsigned, what appears to be original oil painting. We have no history other than whomever the artist is, he/she is good. The painting measures 32 1/2 x 32 1/2 including the frame. There is some damage, tear near the right side of the standing Native American's ear which has been repaired. The letters BMH are written on the stretcher bar at the top of the painting. We would hope to identify the artist and get the value should we decide to sell. The dealer we bought it from did not have the history, came from an estate sale.

This original painting is done in the illustrative style and influence of the Golden Age American illustrators such as Harvey Dunn, NC Wyeth, Lou Purchase, Harold von Schmidt, Dean Cornwell, Frank Tenney Johnson, Howard Pyle, Morton Stoops. However without a signature, who painted this work cannot be definitively stated unless a possible published illustration match is discovered. Thematically, it is in the vein of illustrations in early 20th century published versions of "The Last of the Mohicans". A view of the backside, as requested, and some extreme close ups of the surface would have been quite helpful. The estimate is based on comparables.
Please add an image of the backside (do not remove from frame) and some clear, well-lit, in-focus extreme close-ups of the surface so I can see the texture.
