estate sale
Hi Edward,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
While this has archaic elements, the proportions are wrong for this to be truly old; I suspect this is a more modern manufacture and could be either copper or bronze - both acquire that nice verdigris patina with some age.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An archaic style Chinese ox-form bronze or copper candelabra
probably 19th Century or later
The elongated body of an ox mounted with five graduated candle arms, unmarked.
14 inches high, 22 inches long
CONDITION: with a verdigris patina and some pitting overall; minor abrasions and surface cracks.
PROVENANCE: acquired at an estate sale
$300-500*
