Oil on Canvas signed by William Shayer. Circa 1850. Sized at 18" x 22 1/2" for the painting and at 23 1/4" x 27 1/4" with the frame.
Bought at an auction. Owner was downsizing his collection. Pervious owner bought it from an estate sale. No further history was provided.

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. The painting in your possession is very much in the style of William Shayer and most likely by him.
I will not copy the extensive description of the past auction, as you already know the content. The setting and atmosphere is very typical for Shayer, and collector´s tend to pay more if the artist´s work falls within the normal parameters. A number of other paintings offered as William Shayer paintings in the recent past, did not make the threshold of 1000 USD, a few "typical" sold above 3000 USD.
