This is an old oil painting on canvas. I do not see a signature anywhere. It looks like it may have been redone and stapled onto newwer wood at some point? It looks like something from An art book with old impressionist paintings.
My husband got it in a mixed odd lot from an auction.
This is a vintage reproduction of a detail from a work by French painter Henri Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) entitled Moulin Rouge. The original was completed in 1892 and it is in the permanent collection of the National Art Museum in Prague in the Czech Republic. Your work dates to about 1980 and it was first printed onto the canvas and then painted over in thick brushstrokes to mimic an original Lautrec painting. . It was common throughout the 20th century for publishers to print images of paintings and sell them as decorative wall art through decorator, furniture and framing shops. The estimate is based on actual past auction sales of comparables.
