This plate measures 24in wide. It’s thickness runs 1-3inches. Weighs approximately 5 pounds. Its original Dale Chihuly hand blown glass with his signature on the bottom side. It was purchased from the Bellagio when it first opened by my grandmother. I have no receipts of purchase.
This was privately owned by my grandmother who purchased it from the Bellagio when it first opened. It’s been inside her home on display since then.
Hi Hunter,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is really interesting and looks like this plate might be a one-off and something DC did not make many of (on the auction market, typical works usually do better than atypical works unless there is extensive documentation etc surrounding a specific individual commission where rarity - and provenance - would drive the price up).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Unusual Dale Chihuly Presentation Art Glass Charger
inscribed underneath "Paul Chihuly" (the inscription is comparable to Chihuly drawings from the early 1980s)
3 inches high by 24 inches diameter
PROVENANCE: acquired at the Bellagio Hotel in the late 1990s; thence by inheritance
$1,200-1,800*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto
Thanks, Hunter!
Is it possible to forward the link to that signature?
In the meantime, I can look into shops at the Bellagio when it opened to see if any are still there and if they carried Chihuly pieces (as well as works by other glass artists).

This is the signature I was comparing it too. This is on one of his art pieces and is written in the same fashion.

Based on this, and subject to examination, if this were to go to auction, I would expect the following description and value:
An Unusual Dale Chihuly Presentation Art Glass Charger

Hello, I would like to sell this or auction it off. Where is the best place in California to do this at? Any recommendations? Thank you.
I don't know of any off the top of my head near San Diego. There are a few auction houses in the LA area (Andrew Jones, Bonhams, LA Modern, Abell, Heritage) that might be interested in working with you on this.
Hi, Im trying to download your report. However, it doesn't contain the important message you sent. It only has the first set of questions you asked me. Can you please fix it to this? As this is the appropriate wording for the appraisal.
Thank you.

I've moved the text into the first box so it should print as appropriate now. Let me know if it still doesn't...
It worked! Thanks so much
Fantastic, thanks for letting me know and have a great weekend.
I totally understand. However, I did manage to find a signature of Dales online that looks identical to this one, so that’s why I assumed it was. It was purchased the year the Bellagio was opened 1998 or possibly 1999. Definitely right around when it opened though. I don’t know the store as this was when I was a small child that she purchased it.
