Approximately 24 inches tall and 13 inches wide. Oil/acrylic on cotton fabric. It appears really old as the fabric is worn and thin in some places and strings are fraying on the sides. It was re stretched on the frame and is not exactly centers any more.

Good afternoon, Laura,
This is a great example of surrealist art!
I'm having trouble deciphering the signature - any thoughts? What is the history of the painting? Are there any markings or inscriptions on the back that might give a clue as to who painted this? Is El Paraiso the title or subject? Is this written anywhere?
Many thanks to confirm the above!
The letters look either Cyrillic, which is the Russian alphabet, or Greek. I've done a search of Greek and Russian surrealist or Dada artists but nothing is coming up as a match. It is still a really interesting and compelling work that has artistic merit on its own. I would say:
Surrealist school, 20th Century
Untitled composition with tree and small figures, a newspaper inscribed "El Paraiso"
signed indistinctly lower right
oil on canvas
24" x 13", unframed
$800-1,200
Please let us know if you have additional works to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
I purchased this at a thrift store and have no history on it. There are no markings on the back. El Paraiso is written on the white newspaper in the tree. I think the signature is written in another language.
