Compared to other paintings by Armfield this is a rather quiet one, more a dog portrait. The tear can be restored, but all the other smaller damages where the paint flakes off are quite time consuming. So if you have an expert restorer who works for a friendly smile you could take the chance. If not, rather not. The high estimate is based on similar paintings in good condition sold at auctions recently.
