Thank you for submitting this oil on canvas painting depicting poppies and lilac by Scottish artist George Houston (1869 - 1947) to Mearto for evaluation. This is a lovely painting and is a great example of the artist's command of color.
His work is often offered and sold at auction, while most of the pieces offered are expansive landscape paintings there are a few which depict closer studies and show his use of contrasting colors with bright pops. His average auction price was the highest in 2008, before the market crashed and the numbers haven't full rebounded yet, currently I would estimate this piece to sell at auction between 1300GBP and 1500GBP.
