Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an early 20th century photogravure with water colour after a copper engraving by Nicolas IV LARMESSIN (1684-1753) after the Watteau painting "L'accordée de village" ( approx. 40 x 58 cm ). The estimate is based on recent auction results of similars sold at auction. "Asking prices" for similar facsimile prints offered in the trade can be higher and vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
A photogravure or heliogravure is basically a reproduction technique. A photograph was taken of an old copper engraving, the negative used to expose the photo on a sheet of copper covered with a photosensetive varnish, etched, and as a result produces a new plate from which you can pull new prints. I hope this answers you question. Kind regards
Thank you for your evaluation. If I am surprised about the wedding ceremony of the village of the artist Laramisin, please let me ask some questions
What does the signing of the copier signify the widow of Sherouh on the painting with the mention of her title
The painting was a white inscription in black and then was painted as recently as I understood from your assessment
Does this diminish its importance and why the painting is not all of the work of Larcenine and took place in the studio of the widow of Sherouh as is evident through its title
The difference between this painting is the color and the black and white painting that is found in the International Exhibition of Scotland and is the same for the artist Larmesin
Is this artist Larmesn is not famous in his work, embellished and printed like other artists in the same field
Finally, I understood from your assessment that it is a work of Arsemin, a copper and a wana engraving after that, is this true?
thank you
