Dear Martha,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with measurements of 30 x 26 inches. The painting depicts a religious motif with the Holy Family with Mary and Joseph holding Jesus Christ with their hands. Above this scene, we see Godfather in the sky. This painting is typical for the Spanish-influenced colonies in Middle and South America. Especially the flat stylistics and depiction and the decorated details of the clothing are typical for this region and period. It was made in the 18th or first half of the 19th century and probably made in the North of South America. It is not possible to identify an artist and such paintings were produced in high numbers for the decoration of altars and the numerous churches in South and Middle America.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. This painting was restored and the canvas was fixed to a doubled supportive canvas.
A fair market estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
