Thatched Cottages by Vlaminck
About 25"x18", Oil Painting, Brass Plate says "Landscape, Vlaminck". I looked for information and I saw pictures of , seems to be Thatched Cottages at the Roadside". I can see what looks like brushstrokes, they look a bit abrupt and choppy. It looks quite dirty. Frame looks like old, seems to be covered in something like paper with gold leaf maybe. There are thatched houses on the right, a road running through the middle, a bit of a field on the left. A portion of a signature is visible on the lower left corner. I don't dare take it out of its frame to check, but from the visible portion it does sort of look like the Vlaminck signature samples online.

The appraised work appears to be a copy of a larger painting entitled Chaumières (1933) by Vlaminck currently in the collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Vlaminck was best-known for his brightly colored landscapes, where he tended to use primary colors and employ short, square brushstrokes to produce a sense of visual texture and vibration. He was greatly influenced by Van Gogh and was mostly self-taught, taking only a few lessons from academic painters in the late 19th century.
