Oil on canvas; about 1mt 10cm h by about 80cm w; framed. The lighting in the house is low so the photo is a bit yellower than the actual painting. It would probably need cleaning.
Bought in the US between 1960 and 63
Dear Helena,
Thank you for your request. Please add more detailed and focused images. Thanks.
With best regards,
Georg
Dear Helena,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience. I have to ask you for a little patience. This painting needs some research. I am going to send you the appraisal in the next two days. Is there some label or somthing like this on the reverse side of the painting?
With best regards,
Georg
Dear Georg, Unfortunately there is not. I turned the painting around and there is only the back covering. There may be something directly on the back of the canvas, but I would have to cut the paper covering on the back. I can do this but didn't for fear of lowering the price in the eventuality it is worth anything.
Dear Helena,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience. The apprised object is a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 110 x 80 cm. It depicts the holy family with the standing Jesus Christ in the foreground and Asian facial features. It is signed in the left corner with "A Doctor" or "H. Doctor". Sadly this artist is not mentioned in auction records or similar databases. This painting was made in the middle of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
Dear Georg, We have found the name of the artist. Antonio 'Tony' Doctor. A filippino painter who, I believe, lives or lived in Canada and is one of the founders of the Philippine Artists Group of Canada. This painting is for sale, by the way.
Dear Helena,
Thank you for the precious hint. Sadly Antonio "Tony" Doctor is not listed in auction records or similar databases. That means the estimate is still between 300 to 600 USD. At least it is a highly decorative painting. You can change the status of your profile when you want to sell this painting over the MeArto platform.
With best regards,
Georg
These are much clearer. Thank you.
