Dear Chris,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry and for the information.
This is a vintage, late 20th century, original post-impressionist style painting of a city, possibly in spring, with different individuals in the background. The work is signed by Salurin/Salirin/Saturin/Satirin, who is an unlisted artist. These type of works occasionally come up for sale, however there is not a large collector following for works signed with these surnames.
No prof or any other documents. Very good condition, framed.
The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
The reason why I purchased it besides its beauty was on the back. I saw the 80,000 written. I thought it was what the artist asking price possibly in Lira. If that is so the painting would have sold for around 26K?
BTW exactly what parts of the painting are you looking for a closer pic of?
I purchased it from a Maritime Antique shop in North Carolina near Emerald Island. It was on consignment. The lady who owned it purchased it from an Estate in the area and the only thing she knew about the painting was that it was purchased overseas. I will have to take more pics and send them. I am on my computer now, I have to do that from my phone.
